Classic Mustard

Ernest Hemmingway Mustard lives in a not so damp basement flat on the Brighton Hove border with Violet his dear lady wife, and Doris an old portly Jack Russell terrier. They have a fish called Rover who suffers from the melancholia, and many friends they meet up with along the Prom: Stripes the cat, Horace Duck, Audrey the sheep, Hattie Dalmatian and Almondine the spirit of my departed budgie. Violet, the dear lady wife is a martyr to her bunions and often chooses to stay in watching reruns of Columbo with a big fat cushion of a cat on her lap. This is an indoor cat. He doesn’t like to go out. Doesn’t like being drawn much either. They call him Whisky.

So if you like the classic images of Ernest, Doris and Vi you’ll find them all here. Working in oil pastels and coloured inks, with a fair bit a scraping and pencil shavings throughout, I have brought together my imaginary world in all its glorious textured colours. And just in case you’ve run out of wall space, we’ve transferred the paintings to a whole host of lovely things made with gifting in mind.

Thank you so much for all your support! As planned, Mustard General Store is closed from 17 December.
